Facebook: FaceBUKING (Caught In The Act)

Facebook is the most common social networking site launched in February 2004 and founded by computer science student Mark Zuckerberg together with his college roommates and fellow student.

I'm an active user of this social networking site since 2008. In many ways, Facebook has impacted on the social life of the people. I find it very useful because through it I can easily communicate with my family, friends, and to my surprise...get connected with my old classmates  haven't  seen for a long time.

Facebook also has its negative effects. But let me focus on  romantic jealousy. Gone are the days when lipstick marks on the collar is the only sign your partner was being unfaithful to you.

I've known a couple who is happily married for more than 25 years but their relationship was tested  only when the guy got hooked to Facebook. He spent more time chatting with high school classmates and even attended class reunions several times not knowing that the wife is becoming too jealous of it. One time the wife asked for the husband's Facebook password and found out that the guy is communicating with his highschool ex-girlfriend.....followed by strange calls during sleep hours. This led to heated arguments and trauma on the wife. Until now the husband is trying his best to regain the trust he used to have and prepared for a month-long vacation with his wife and son.....

Celebrities: To Tweet or Not To Tweet

Twitter is another popular social networking site that enables users to send and read messages called "tweets". Twitter messages are public but you can also send private messages. It is also a medium that lets users follow your daily activities by following your account.

In the Philippines, celebrities (from cinema, sports, newscasters and politics) reached their fans through this site. They update fans about their movies, mall shows, tv shows and most of all their feelings.

Some are educational like Kim Atienza, whom I am very much fond of because he tweets interesting facts about everything. Another is "ihatequotes" who tweeted inspirational quotes. Others, use it as an interaction with their viewers for their news reporting like Channel 2's late night news programming called Bandila.

Another famous about twitter is the "Word War" of celebrities with some fans and celebrities with co-celebrities. Last 2010, celebrities Angelica Panganiban and Claudine Barretto had a heated argument about Claudine's alleged special romance with their common friend whom Claudine think that Angelica was spreading the rumor. She even sent death threats for Angelica through their common friends. It lasted months and end up when the mother studio of Panganiban warned Claudine to stop those allegations or else they will sue her.

Last March 3, 2011 Angelica Panganiban involved herself again in "word war" to a certain anilmorales, who is a fan of football player Phil Younghusband. This is about Angelica commenting about Phil's indie film that he should concentrate on football than showbiz.

The latest is Cong. Manny Pacquiao's reply to his follower (@RAndRat) regarding his "No" vote for the House of Representatives' impeachment trial against Omb. Merceditas Gutierrez. He tweeted "eh di magreklamo ka sa lolo mong panot hahahaha". And on March 23, 2011 Pacquiao closed his month-old account.

With these incidents, celebrities should watch their tweets because it can easily attract criticisms.
